Just as a balanced diet supports various aspects of physical health, the Fruits of the Spirit contribute to a robust and flourishing spiritual life. Just think if we all exhibited those traits all the time, what a wonderful world we would live in!

Guarding Against Spiritual Junk Food – 1 John 2:15-17:

While understanding the importance of a nutritious spiritual diet, it is crucial to be aware of spiritual "junk food" that may hinder our growth. 1 John 2:15-17 says,  “Do not love the world [of sin that opposes God and His precepts], nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father, but are from the world. The world is passing away, and with it its lusts [the shameful pursuits and ungodly longings]; but the one who does the will of God and carries out His purposes lives forever.” These verses caution us against the love of the world and its temporary pleasures. Indulging in materialism, unhealthy relationships, or negative influences can be compared to consuming spiritual junk food that hampers our spiritual well-being.

By being discerning and avoiding these spiritual pitfalls, we can maintain a diet that aligns with God's will, promoting a thriving and fulfilling relationship with Him.
